Program Description

Our Network Manager course (ACS Network Manager) teaches and trains students the basics of maintaining computer networks with software updates, identifying the need for hardware upgrades, and providing technical support among colleagues, among others.
Training program offered in English leading to an attestation of collegial studies (ACS)

Program Objectives

  • Allow the student to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary for the technical installation, both hardware and software, of a local network.
  • Implement, administer and support network information systems.
  • Install and configure the computers used as a station or server.
  • Install and configure the main devices used in a network.
  • Master the operating systems of the Microsoft Windows range

Key Courses

First Session:

Students will learn professional skills and the IT industry. Also, all of the inner working of a computer, how to build, dismantle, modify and maintain.

An initial understanding of how network traffic is controlled and managed using the TCP/IP model. Protocols and ports, network security, cables and equipment, subnetting and IP addresses. Introduction to Cisco.

An initial look into the logic and structure behind programming. Simple algorithms and an introduction to Visual Studio and the C# language

Second Session:

Understanding of several mathematic logics and structures that apply in the IT field. Base numbers, binary language, statistics, set theory, vectors and matrices.

introduction to the principals of structured programming. Using Visual Studio and C#, Students explore the correct structuring of data and code through enumerations, arrays and methods.

Installation and configuration of a web server. Concepts of web site hosting, frontend and backend. Website bindings. Common web languages and technologies. Course in 2 parts – Microsoft IIS and Linux Apache (Introduction to Linux Operating Systems

Understanding and configuration of preventative measures for network and information security. Different types of Cyber attacks and the ways to prevent them. Introduction to Cybersecurity.

Third Session:

Using a database management system. The importance of the database, the language and security. SQL server installation, configuration and language.

Understanding and configuring internal and external network communication. Routing and static routes. Name resolution and its importance – the DNS and other name resolution services. The DHCP and VPNs. Windows Server 2016 and 2019.

Fourth Session:

Advanced Linux and Apache. Linux distributions. Introduction to WordPress. Network monitoring and security – Zabbix. Linux and Windows working together.

Fifth Session:

As the final project evolves, students are assessed on their work, as a team, and individually. The documents and topologies, and the network security and overall function is evaluated.

Automate computer network management tasks. Understanding of containers. Docker, Ninite, Chocolatey and Azure Intune. Planning of a project and introduction to DevOps.

The students work in teams to plan, update, build and run a network from scratch. From the initial analysis of the project, the proper documentation, to the building and connecting of servers and network devices to create a fully functional, secure infrastructure

Deployment of a database server to the network. Intranet servers. Microsoft SharePoint – cloud and on-premise. Office 365.

Internship

Now the chance for the student to put all their new knowledge and skills to the test in the real world. Every student will be assisted in finding their internship, and will be monitored and evaluated throughout. Once this is completed, successfully, the student will receive their diploma…..and head off for a career in the world of IT!

Skills gained after completing this program

After completing this program course, a student will be an expert in setting up, maintaining and making secure software and data, online and offline accounts and hardware devices for a company, and should also be capable of setting up and configuring computer servers. While most network managers start in private companies, they eventually branch out as freelance expert consultants.
